My name is Nella Valencia. I graduated from Phillips Graduate Institute with a Masters Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. I completed a Bachelors Degree in Psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles. Furthermore, I completed a certification in Chemical Dependency Counseling at the California Certification Board of Chemical Dependency (CCBCD) and a certification in Domestic Violence Advocacy at YWCA. I have been working in the mental health field since 2004.
I am a lively, outgoing, and insightful therapist. My therapeutic approach is strongly relational. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is essential in the development and outcome of clinical treatment. As your therapist, my goals are to help you discover the meaning of your life experiences, to support you in exploring answers to your internal struggles, to help you gain insight, and to help you rediscover yourself.
Because a central aspect of my therapeutic approach is our relationship, one of my personal goals is to build a relationship with you that will be grounded in values of authenticity, transparency, and honesty. You will learn about who I am as a person, including my own life experiences, my own internal struggles, and my own fears, just as much as I will get to learn yours. I believe that this level of dialogue is essential for meaningful human contact and in therapy, it can lead to an amazing transformation. Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions you may have about the services I provide or to schedule an appointment.
